Recently I learned that our denomination does not have defined theology of Leadership. Even though we have 28 fundamental beliefs, and began to develop systematic theology, but there are also many areas that have not been addressed. Leadership just happens to be one of these few. Only recently our BRI (Biblical Research Institute) and few professors at our leading Educational Institution (Andrews University) began to study, research and write on this topic.
No theology of Leadership means that we adopt cultural or secular corporate practices of leadership and "baptize" them into pragmatic use for our spiritual community. In an environment where Leadership practice is not founded on the Understanding of God, the human factor and our human opinion shapes the organizational structure of what is supposed to be the Body of Christ.
It is high time we set this a priority and discover God's Revelation toward needed leadership in these uncertain times, instead of choosing constantly changing models.
I suggest that instead of choosing different functional models of leadership: servant, transactional, transformational, shared, hierarchical, etc., etc., etc., we consider the Leadership dynamics as revealed by the Godhead, the Trinity. Consider not only the Servant Leadership modeled by Jesus, but also ask yourself how is the Holy Spirit leading, what kind of leadership is applied where Holy Spirit is at work? What about the leadership of the Father?
The Trinitarian Leadership then becomes a comprehensive all-inclusive way of influencing people, rather than situational modalistic, or heretically partial focusing only on one aspect of Divine leadership. We are to fractal on earth the leadership as it is in heaven, at least to the degree that is progressively revealed to us.
I invite you to share your thoughts on this subject and enrich my understanding.
